James Harris,
Chapel Clerk and Verger

James has been Chapel Clerk and Verger to the Chapel Royal Hampton Court Palace since October 2018. James was previously Dean’s Verger at St Davids Cathedral, Pembrokeshire, a post he held for five years. Previously to that, he worked at St Paul’s, Winchester, Portsmouth, and Lichfield Cathedrals. He brings a huge wealth of knowledge and experience to the position.

Alexander Hamilton,
Director of Music

Alexander Hamilton is Director of Music at His Majesty’s Chapel Royal, Hampton Court Palace and Westminster Cathedral Choir School, and the Director of the Edington Festival of Music within the Liturgy. He appears as conductor, organ soloist and accompanist on several critically acclaimed recordings for Hyperion, and is in demand as an organ teacher, tutoring regularly on courses for Creative Oundle for Organists. Alexander is also a member of Cathedral Music Trust’s Programmes Committee.

Sophie Baylis,
Music and Choir Co-ordinator

Sophie was appointed Music & Choir Co-ordinator at the Chapel Royal, Hampton Court Palace in September 2017, after graduating in Music from Royal Holloway, University of London. Having specialised in instrumental and vocal performance, she enjoys performing as a freelance flautist and singer alongside working full time in HM Chapel Royal.

Joshua Simões,
Assistant Director of Music

Joshua has recently completed his postgraduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music, where he studied with Prof. David Titterington. He also held the position of Chapel Organist at Harrow School. Joshua has been awarded several major prizes at the RAM and, in 2020, was a prize winner at the Northern Ireland International Organ Competition.

Jeremy Ng, Senior Organ Scholar

Jeremy, born in Hong Kong, began his organ studies under Felix Yeung while serving as Chief Organist at St. Paul’s College. He is currently a student of David Titterington at the Royal Academy of Music, where he holds the Elisabeth and George Wells Organ Scholarship as well as the Peter Le Huray Award. He has previously held organ scholarships at St. Paul’s Church Knightsbridge and King’s College London.

James Huxley-Jennings, Junior Organ Scholar

JHJ

James was a chorister at Hampton Court from 2019 until October 2022 when he was appointed junior organ scholar. He studies the organ with Iestyn Evans.

Louise Cole,
Choral Foundation Administrator

Louise Cole is the administrator of the Choral Foundation. She is based in an office at Hampton Court Palace and can be contacted by telephone on 020 3166 6516.
